Allow Students to Create Breakouts

Jeanie Ingram

We've all heard the expression "work smarter, not harder." Why not put that into action with a group OneNote Breakout?

If you start a OneNote, and add a number of Sections, you can assign each student group TWO sections to work on. The first Section would be the game portion -- puzzles, questions to answer, problems to solve, etc. The second Section would be the locked page with a Congratulations message. You can share the entire OneNote doc to your class with the Edit function ON. Have students get creative with images, clues, codes, a video, a drawing, or perhaps an audio recording!

If you don't want students to apply the lock, collect the codes and YOU apply the locks.

AND if you're interested in a peer review option, add your own final Section that contains an embedded Microsoft Form for students to reflect, answer a few questions, supply the lock codes...whatever you want them to do at the end of the activity.

Once the whole document is complete and you've checked everyone's work -- including the lock codes -- you can re-share the OneNote to the class with the Edit function OFF.

Fun!
